Intern in IT and Process Management

The market leader in the International Airfreight industry, is looking for an energetic and well-rounded intern with knowledge and interest in logistics processes, project management and IT for their North and South American Handling headquater office in Atlanta.

The selected candidate will support the Process and IT Manager (PITIS) in day to day activities and special projects applying theory knowledge into practical solutions.

PITIS is responsible for the development and implementation of cargo processes in order to achieve best in class standards in cooperation with central departments at headquaters in Germany. He advises on the acquisition of new systmes products, ensuring their fit to current and future information requiremnts of all participants along the process chain. He ensures that all information needs of internal and external process participants are met.

You will be working in a close-knit team of managers and will be expected to conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner.

In our rapidly changing line of business, flexibility is a must. Job duties may change between now and the start of the internship. However, the following tasks should tickle your interest before applying.

Support PITIS with:

Information Systems
- Development, management, and participation in the preparation and presentattion of IS training programs to educate management and users in data processing and requirements
- Support of the development of reporting and data extraction tools to meet the need of management and the company's operational units
- Interface of management and customers by determining their exact information and data processing needs and ensure of a seamless flow of inforamtion between all parties involved
- Monitoring of the Handling Business Unit's information systems in order to achieve the highest reliability and performance possible

Process
- Participation in design/streamlining processes and organizational interfaces to provide a framework for maximum perfomance
- Communication of process related tasks to make the staff thinking in processes and to increase internal performance
- Responsibility for the continuous update of process descriptions (manuals)

IT
- Supervision of local IT providers (in regard of functions and disposability of systems) in order to meet service levels and verification of correct invoicing
- Planning and budgeting of EDP
- Local IT controlling in collaboration with the Perfomance Manager
- Support of establishment of 3rd-party interface and consulting of external partners to create a coherent process and organizational structure to facilitate management of the overall performance and to optimize the complete value chain
- Evaluation of alternative IT solutions considering economics, quality and timeframe
- Coordination of new IT systems roll-outs and new IT releases in the area
- Maintenanance and adaption of existing individual software of the Handling Business unit

Your Profile:
- You have completed your basic studies
- You are studying business administration, management or related field with a focus on Marketing and Strategy
- You must have very good communication skills in English
- You have gained practical experience during other Internships in the field of Marketing already
- You have strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and under stress perhaps at odd hours
- You are a team player and have very good social skills
- You are able to familiarize yourself quickly with new topics
- You have very good skills applying and using IT-systems and tools, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, HTML editors
- Experience with pivot tables, functions, data analysis, charts, and VBA macros are very helpful
- Former experience in logistics, airline industry a plus

The start date of the internship will be as soon as possible. Duration six months
