Estimator

This is an ideal industrial placement for a student who is currently studying a construction management course and wishing to gain a broad range of experience whilst assisting the Operations and Contracts Manager. Responsibilities will involve estimating and tendering for construction contracts. This will include:

* Estimating contracts/tenders.
* Entering new contracts on to the computer system.
* Handling enquiries
* Liaising with sub-contractors
* Helping to organise the programming of the work
* Buying of materials
* Measuring and quantifying work that has been carried out
* Anything else required to carry out the position efficiently.
* Hours of work 8 per day.
* Although office based, there will possibly be a requirement to be on site. Therefore own transport could be useful. However, we can hire for those occasions.

Essential Requirements:

* Excellent written and spoken English
* Good organisational skills
* Communicate in a confident manner
* Computer literate
* Experience in measurement of construction work
* General knowledge in construction practice & of the construction industry
* Driving licence

Desired Attributes:

* Experience in a similar role or environment

* They promote a policy of employing apprentices for "in house" training in order to retain a high standard of workmanship. Hence all their work is guaranteed.

* Offices are based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.
* There are many pedestrian areas, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and night clubs, in the city and on the water's edge. Kings Walk Shopping Centre located in the heart and of Gloucester City centre providing retail outlets of various sizes and catering for many different types of customers.
* Gloucester is Britain's most Inland Port. Today Gloucester Docks is known for its award-winning museums, attractions, shops and restaurants. And Gloucester boasts a Cathedral that is 900 years old.
* Overlooked by the Cotswold Hills, in the lush Severn valley, the city of Gloucester is perfectly located and easily accessible, from all corners of the country. Travel west from Gloucester to the Royal Forest of Dean. Travel south to the lush Severn Vale; east lies Cheltenham and the outstanding Cotswold Hills. To the north is Tewkesbury, historic villages and the Malvern Hills.
* It is close to the Midlands and has excellent communication to the rest of the country.

Remuneration details:

* A training allowance of £600 per month will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs. This remuneration package is not negotiable under ANY circumstances.
