CAD Design Engineer

A great opportunity for a student with CAD skills to gain valuable practical experience in an established business which designs, manufactures, supplies and installs sports hall and gymnasium equipment. Reporting to the Managing Director, the principal responsibilities and duties will include:

Produce technical drawings of all products manufactured by the Company.
Assist with the design and development of new products
Produce layout drawings for Architects to locate the Company’s equipment in new sports halls. (Architects supply drawings of the new building, and you will overwrite them with the equipment layout.)
Produce drawings to assist the Company’s engineers to position equipment correctly indicating locations for brackets, supports etc – essential to the efficiency of the installation team
Apply and monitor a drawing control system
Some pportunities for client liaison at design stage of projects
Ad hoc engineering or administrative tasks, as reasonably required
Hours of work 9.00am – 5.00pm, Mon – Fri.

Working in a relaxed office environment. Working alongside a team of 3 people.

Essential requirements:
Good written & spoken English.
Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD
Knowledge and experience in design engineering
Good computer skills
Logical, structured, disciplined approach to problem solving
Good communication & interpersonal skills
Organised
Flexible team player
Confident & able to work independently when required

Desirable attributes:

Keen interest in design engineering
Previous experience in a similar role or environment will be an advantage
A current driving licence will allow you to use company vehicles to travel to and from work on occasions when spare vehicles are available.

Location:

Based in Stanway, a suburb of Colchester, Essex. Stanway has a number of local amenities. Colchester is Britain’s oldest recorded town and boasts a wide range of leisure facilities; include Leisure World, Roller World, theatres and cinema. Good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and nightlife. Just 20 miles from Harwich International Port and about the same to the local seaside towns of Clacton on Sea and Frinton on Sea. Nearby Mersea Island is great for sailing and famous for its oysters

London is also a short train journey from Colchester. There is a main line railway station 20 mins walk from the office. Essex University is located in Colchester so there is a local student community and it will be a source of local information.

Remuneration details:

A training allowance of £700 per month will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs.

This remuneration package is not negotiable under ANY circumstances.
