Data Warehouse Developer

This opportunity is for a 2-3 month summer placement in the Office Products IT team of this global player at their UK Head Office. The role is to provide technical support and implementation of interfaces between key source systems and the division?s Oracle Data Warehouse using Informatica Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tool. Reporting to the Business Analyst, tasks and duties will include:


? Designing, developing, implementing and supporting the Data Warehouse ETL infrastructure across Europe.

? Identifying and resolving data discrepancy within the Data Warehouse and associated systems.

? Creating new ETL processes as required by the business within the Data Warehouse.

? Providing support, documentation and technical training to the Data Warehouse team with regard to interface writing and ETL design.

? Hours of work will be 36.25 hours per week


Essential requirements:


? Excellent English, both written and spoken

? Database Dimensional Modelling experience

? Programming language (PL/SQL)

? Strong Communication and Relationship Building skills - develops good internal relationships, takes time to understand the requirements of internal customers in order to design, deliver and support analytical systems.

? Must be able to communicate technical issues and concepts clearly, so that the end user understands, both orally and in writing.

? Ability to transfer knowledge and teach colleagues in understanding new technologies and processes.

? Ability to link business strategies to IT capabilities.

? Flexibility and Ability to Learn - able to work with a variety of new technologies and skills.

? Team Player - comfortable in working in a project oriented team environment.

? Innovation and initiative - able to bring creative new IT solutions to business issues


Desirable attributes:


? Knowledge and experience with: Oracle 10G and Informatica

? Database performance tuning (Cost Based Optimizer)

? Best practices regarding database design and support

? Based in Maidenhead, in the county of Berkshire, about 25 miles west of London.

Remuneration details:


? A training allowance of £1200 a month will be provided
