Logistics Planner/Transport Assistant

This is a challenging and rewarding placement opportunity for a Business student, majoring in Logistics. You will have the opportunity to gain real practical experience and responsibility. An important part of the role will be to assist in identifying areas within transport where procedures are weak and assisting in strengthening them. The role will be to assist the manager in the following areas:



Complete the computerised Journey Planning process for a fleet of 16 next day multi drop delivery vehicles- DPS is the planning software.

Maintain analogue and digital tachograph records and vehicle unit records, and initiate any necessary corrective training and counselling.

Oversee and participate within the Driver Debrief process.

Ensure drivers follow procedures relating to such things as Vehicle Defect Reporting, vehicle washing, cash and cheque collection, order returns.

Liaise with local employment agencies to hire any necessary temporary drivers.

Complete Purchase Order process to control expenditure within Transport Department.

Hours of work are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday



Essential requirements:



Fluent English

Computer literate - Spreadsheet and word experience.

Good sense of humour.

Ability to work both in a team and on ones own.

Can do� attitude.

Desirable attributes:



CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)

Experience of process controlled environment

Welwyn Garden City is a new town built in 1975. It has a cosmopolitan feel due to the University nearby and offers a full range of amenities.

Welwyn Garden City is situated to the north of London, which is about 20 minutes away by train.

Stansted and Luton Airports are conveniently located, with Stansted offering a large number of low cost flights from European destinations.

Remuneration details:



A training allowance of £600 per month will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs.



This remuneration package is not negotiable under ANY circumstances.
