Associate (2 positions)

This is a remarkable opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in business research in the Technology, Digital Media and Telecommunications sectors for this leading Venture capital firm. Reporting to the leading Associate, key tasks and responsibilities will include:

Background research on Software Technology, Digital Media and Telecommunications, covering
 

• Market size and dynamics
• Individual companies
• Competitive analysis
• Desk based Internet research
• Some travel to conferences and individual company premises
• Production of presentations and reports to assist with investment decisions

Hours of work – 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

Essential requirements:

• Excellent English, written and spoken
• Good communication skills, written and verbal
• Good analytical skills
• Good understanding of, and passion for, Software, Technology and the Internet
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated
• Accurate and numerate
• Attitude and a flexible mindset are very important

Desirable attributes:

• Deep understanding of Technology will be an advantage, though not essential
• Able to work in a small office based team
• Able to work with minimal supervision

Company activity:
The Company is a venture capital firm investing in early stage Software companies in the Technology , Digital Media and Telecommunications sector. They have a fund of £90m to be invested in 30 companies.

They address the funding gap between business angels and later-stage venture capitalists, providing investment appropriate for the needs of an investee company and its stage of development.

The company is a mix of successful entrepreneurs and investment professionals. Their blend of knowledge, experience and skill covers business strategy, sales and marketing, finance and operations, M & A transactions and institutional fund management.

They will invest as little as £250,000 to back an innovative idea, up to around £1.25 million for a team not yet ready for a traditional Series A investment, through to as much as £3.5 million for a team with early revenues requiring expansion capital. Critically, they will support their successful portfolio companies with additional funding as they develop over time.

Its Head Office is in Bath, with a second office in London.

Location:
Based in Bath, Somerset in the West of England. The City of Bath is a World Heritage Site, famous for its Roman history and Georgian architecture.

Bath is one of the most popular cities in the UK for young overseas students with its architecture, restaurants, bars, clubs and vibrant social scene.

Excellent transport connections from Bath to visit all areas of UK. London is 75 mins by train and Bristol is just 15 mins.

Remuneration details:
A training allowance of £800 a month will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs.
This remuneration package is not negotiable under ANY circumstances.
