This is ideal placement for an energetic business student who is seeking a placement with a variety of responsibilities. As Administrator working within a property trading company and lettings agency, you will assist the Office Manager in the smooth running of office and ensuring all tasks are completed in timely manner. The successful candidate will also learn about the UK property market and buying/selling process. You will also be responsible for implementing and developing a new IT system by use of a third party bespoke software. This will involve gaining a full understanding of the lettings business in order that you can implement the new system and deal with the transfer of data. Therefore you will need good IT literacy but will not be expected to carry out programming. The role will include:

• Lettings Management
• Basic book-keeping
• General administrative work
• Maintaining filing system
• Telephone reception work
• Ad hoc duties to ensure smooth operation of the administrative function
• Working in a small office alongside 2 colleagues
• Hours of work 9.00am – 5.30pm, Mon – Fri.

Essential requirements:

• Fluent English
• Good client service – to deal with tenants, solicitors, brokers and third party suppliers.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Accuracy
• Good communication & interpersonal skills
• Flexible, organised and disciplined
• Experience in IT (MS Office, Access, Front Page, System Development)

Desirable attributes:

• Some basic accounts experience
• Problem solving ability
• Previous experience in a similar role

Company activity:

• The company was formed in 1997 as a vehicle to purchase residential investment properties. In 2001 they commenced a Property Acquisition service tailored to their individual clients’ needs.
• They further developed a Property Investment programme to give clients a greater knowledge of the residential investment market, property finance and taxation issues to help them to overcome their apprehension and empower themselves to have a greater involvement.
• Their activities now include Trading Property, a Lettings Agency and Property Maintenance

Location:

• Located in Seaham, Sunderland. Seaham is an old mining coastal village which is getting a face-lift and community boost with recent regeneration intiatives. Seaham, formerly Seaham Harbour, is a small town in County Durham, situated six miles to the south of Sunderland and 13 miles east of Durham City. It has a small parish church, St Mary the Virgin, with a late 7th century Anglo Saxon nave resembling the church at Escomb in many respects. St Mary the Virgin is regarded as one of the 20 oldest surviving churches in the UK. The people of Seaham have strong historic ties to Sunderland.

• For generations, Seaham had a strong belief in its mining industry as the source of employment and income. Seaham , town (1991 pop. 21,807), Durham, NE England, on the North Sea. Mining and shipping coal were major industries. The manufacture of clothing is now a significant industry.

Seaham has fine beaches and easy transport links to the eastern side of the country. From 2001 most of the Durham coastline was designated as a "heritage coast" and Seaham beach was entirely restored. In 2002 the Turning the Tide project won, jointly with the Eden Project, the prize for Outstanding Achievement in Regeneration in the annual Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors awards. Seaham Hall is now a luxury hotel and spa. In homage to the town's link to Lord Byron, the new multi-million pound shopping complex,named Byron's Place. It aims to revitalise the area, using the successful redevelopment of the central shopping district of neighbouring town Peterlee as a benchmark. Today, the town has a population of around 22,000, and is served by Seaham Railway Station, which lies on the Durham Coast Line, running from Middlesbrough to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, via Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees and Sunderland. When rail company Grand Central Trains announced it was to run new rail links connecting Sunderland to York and London from September 2007, a stop-off at Seaham was not originally planned. However, lobbying from local people has launched fresh interest in this possibility.

Local bus services operated by Arriva and Go North East also provide access to the nearby towns of Murton, Peterlee and Houghton-le-Spring, as well as further afield to Sunderland, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Durham, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough.

Remuneration details:

• A training allowance of £600 per month will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs.

This remuneration package is not negotiable under ANY circumstances.
