SUMMARY

The Programs Intern shall provide program research, outreach, design support, administrative assistance, customer service, website connections and clerical support to the Programs Department.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with dynamic professionals who are utilizing their programmatic skills in the areas of trainings and products to honor the legacy of the Foundation. The successful candidate will gain a thorough background in program development, promotion and implementation and make substantive strategic contributions to help the Foundation meet its goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

Conducts research in the area of program development. Data is collected on community needs, relevant issues and funding opportunities from foundations and corporations.
Assists in programmatic outreaching. Partners such as community based organizations, K-12 schools, colleges, and government agencies are contacted for program connections.
Assists in programmatic design support. Support programmatic efforts with product research, formatting and reproduction.
Assists in updating collateral materials.
Assists in administrative duties such as file maintenance for the Foundation Activities.
Provides customer service on programmatic informational requests.
Works with the Communication department on updating program content for the website and monitoring media requests related to programming.
Drafts correspondence, program acknowledgement letters and other documents for the Programs Department

Education and Experience

High school degree is required. Position recommends the candidate to currently be enrolled in a recognized institution of higher education. Experience working in a professional environment is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate must have an interest in promoting self-empowerment and positive social change, through education and service projects. Position requires fluency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and Internet Research. Position also requires ability to communicate in writing and speaking with tact; initiative, discipline, and ability to perform under deadline pressure; highly developed attention to detail. Ability to type at 40 net words per minute is preferred. Knowledge of Raisers Edge Database is a plus.

Position requires a valid class C� drivers license.

COMPENSATION
The Programs Intern is a non-paid position. If the applicant is eligble, the Foundation will work with the educational institution to arrange for work-study or academic credit.
